Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for assisting IT staff in the operation of the computer, network, security and communication resources of the company. The Desktop Support Technician is exposed to the many facets of operating a company's IT infrastructure and resolves support requests with the rest of the IT staff.

  • Performing hardware and software installation procedures.
  • Set-up new systems and perform software configuration on stand-alone computers and laptops.
  • Perform data migration.
  • Resolve user support requests (help-desk tickets).
  • Performs troubleshooting as required. Leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
  • Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Trains technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
  • Establishes, maintains and manages user accounts on web, system and active directory services. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
  • Configures/troubleshoots equipment such as printers, copiers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Develops procedures to maintain security and protect all server, workstation and mobile systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
  • Maintains and configures database servers for internal use.
  • Provide users with ongoing assistance in their information technology problems.
  • Stays current in desktop network and other technologies. Recommends ways for MIG to take advantage of new technologies.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Education and/or Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of I.T. experience in a business setting required.
  • Experience with Windows (7/10/2008/2012/2016) operating systems. Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Debian) is a plus.
  • Experience Managing hybrid Active Directory with Office 365/Azure
  • Experience working with Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
  • Experience with cloud virtualization technologies such as Azure, AWS, OpenVZ, LXC
  • Working knowledge of Juniper routers, Cisco switches, and Fortinet appliances
  • Experience working with VoIP Phone system, Cisco Unified Communication a plus
